My name is Nivia H., I was born in the village of Quisaché Acatenango on October 17, 2011. I am the oldest of my siblings and my mother supports me a lot so I can get ahead. My little brother studies. My mom takes care of my younger sister. My dad Pedro is a day laborer and he makes an effort to give us the best, although it is very complicated because it is very hard for him but he does his best so that my family is well. My mom Catarina is a housewife and she does all the chores and supports us by making sure we do homework. Also when it is harvest time we all go to the fields to harvest coffee to support and have more income for my family.

I would love to be a nurse and be able to support the health of my family and my community because it is very important that everyone is in good health so that they can do their different jobs. In the mornings I study at my school and have a lot of fun with my classmates at recess. In the afternoons I do my homework and help my mom with the chores. When they do not give out homework, we go out with my mom to get firewood so she can cook and save on shopping. I would like to continue my studies until I graduate, but seeing the finances of my parents, I do not think they will be able to support me so much, so I would really like the scholarship to achieve my dreams of being a professional and having better opportunities in the future.
