Hello, my name is Bayron, and I live in the community of Choatalún, in the municipality of San Martín Jilotepeque. I was born on May 30, 2012..
I live with my parents and three siblings. My father's name is Héctor. He works as a day laborer. He can't continue working as a bricklayer because he suffers from pain in his hands, which makes it very difficult for him to work. My father only studied up to 7th grade, as he didn't have the opportunity to continue. My mother's name is Aureliana. She is a homemaker and only studied up to 12th grade. My older siblings work and contribute financially to the household expenses. None of them have been able to continue their studies due to the difficult economic situation we live in; that's why they have dedicated themselves to working.
The house where we live is our own; it was an inheritance from my grandfather. Last year, we were able to get running water, since we couldn't afford this service due to lack of resources. We had to fetch water from the river, which was very difficult. When I grow up, I dream of being a firefighter so I can help everyone in need. I also want to be a good person in the future. My favorite subject is math because I learn about many operations and I like numbers.
In the afternoons, I help my father with farm work and I also collaborate with my mother with household chores. I would like a scholarship to fulfill my dreams and become a professional, since without this support I wouldn't be able to continue studying, as there are many hardships at home and I would have to dedicate myself to working.
