My name is Darylena. I was born in Antigua Guatemala. My favorite color is purple. I have a younger sister who attends preschool. My dad doesn't live with us and has never taken care of me. My mom's name is Delmy. She only attended second grade and doesn't have a steady job. She currently sells food online, which helps us support ourselves, although sales aren't always good. This worries my mom, as she thinks she might not be able to continue supporting me in my studies. The place where I live is far from the school; my mom and I walk about 15 to 20 minutes every day, but I love going to school.

My biggest dream is to continue my studies and become a lawyer to help people understand and defend their rights, and to be able to help my mom and support my little sister in her studies. Another of my dreams is to work hard to buy a house where the three of us can live. I like to participate in school activities. My favorite class is Fine Arts, since I love painting and drawing; through my drawings, I can express my feelings and emotions. In the mornings, I help my mom with housework and, occasionally, with her food sales. My mom has managed on her own with us, and I see the effort she puts into providing for us. I would like the scholarship to continue my education, fulfill my goals and dreams, and become a professional.
