My name is Helen. I was born in the village of Quisaché, Acatenango, and I am the youngest of three siblings. I have two brothers, both in elementary school. One of them works and studies at the same time. He works hard to get ahead because life is very expensive. My other sister is also a student. My parents are very supportive of the three of us. My father, Miguel, works as a day laborer on a farm and does his best to make sure we have everything we need. My mother, Julia, is a homemaker and also sells spare parts on the farm where my father works. She always tells us that we should help out around the house with whatever we can so everyone is happy. That's why we always help her and share what we have.

My biggest dream is to be a veterinarian because I love taking care of animals and knowing what's wrong with them. I want to help them when they're sick or when they need vitamins, and that way, always see the animals happy. I like participating in school and reading because reading helps us identify the mistakes we make when writing or pronouncing words. That's why my favorite class is Communication and Language.

In the mornings, I study at my little school, and in the afternoons, after lunch, I help my mom with the housework because there are days when she comes home tired from selling spare parts on the farm. I would like to be part of a scholarship because that way I could continue my studies and help my parents financially. I want to continue studying until I graduate.
