I was born on April 18, 2010, and I live in the community of Varituc in the municipality of San Martín Jilotepeque, department of Chimaltenango. I am the oldest of four siblings, and I live with my parents and my siblings. My father's name is Luis; he only completed the sixth grade. He works driving a construction materials truck, so he is rarely home, as his job involves traveling to different communities to deliver products. My mother's name is Guadalupe. She's a homemaker. She only completed fourth grade because her family didn't support her education. She had to work from a very young age. I have two siblings in elementary school and one in middle school. My financial situation has been very difficult since an accident my mother had at the beginning of the year. She fell badly and fractured her foot. She had to have surgery. We went through some very difficult months because my father stopped working to take care of my mother. I helped my mother a lot with the housework, and I also made tortillas and cooked for my siblings. My mother is recovering now, but she still has trouble standing. My dream is to continue studying so I can have a better future and help my family. I want to be a mechanic. My favorite subject is social studies because I like learning about my country's history. I know that with the scholarship, I'll be able to achieve my dreams and become a professional.
