My name is Emily. I was born in a beautiful town called Santiago Sacatepéquez. I am the third child. My older sister is currently studying Biological Sciences. She works to pay for her studies. My second sister is in school and works on weekends to help pay for some household expenses or her school fees. My youngest brother is school. My father passed away 10 years ago in an accident. His death was a huge impact to my family. My mother's name is Ingrid. She graduated from high school. My mother works at a pharmacy and is the sole provider for our household. We are going through very difficult times. My mother tries to give us the opportunity to study, so my sisters work to help her with some of their tuition expenses. My family has had financial difficulties because my sister had health problems, but we have managed to get through them. Every morning I get up to go to school in my community of Santiago. I love studying; I've never missed a class, and my teachers have praised me for my excellent performance every day. My favorite class is Visual Arts because I can express my ideas through crafts and drawings. In the future, I want to study Business Administration and get a job so I can help support my family. I want to get a scholarship to help my mother, since she's the one who covers the household expenses. The scholarship would help me cover some costs, like school supplies, uniforms, and so on.
